Dame Cicely Courtneidge (1893 - 1980). At this point in her career Cicely Courtneidge was a huge star and everyone's favourite auntie. Her innocent clowning kept movie audiences amused throughout the thirties, but today her best-remembered role is as an aging lesbian in the sixties classic The L-Shaped Room.
